Grant Funding Opportunity for Youth Projects

The City of Oxnard’s Recreation & Community Services seeks Non-Profit Organizations who serve at-risk youth in the Oxnard area to apply for federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding under the Youth Enrichment Program.

Applications will be available on July 21, 2008, at the Recreation & Community Services Department at 545 South “A” Street and on the City of Oxnard Recreation web page at: http://www.oxnardrec.org

The Dallas Cowboys will arrive in Oxnard, California on July 24th, and the opening ceremony is scheduled for Friday, July 25th at 1:30pm (PDT) on the main practice field which will lead into the Cowboys' first practice at 2:30pm.

NFL Pepsi “Punt, Pass & Kick” The Official Skills Competition of the National Football League

The City of Oxnard Recreation & Community Services in conjunction with the Southern California Municipal Athletic Federation (SCMAF) and the National football League (NFL) will host the local competition of the Pepsi; Punt, Pass & Kick Skills Competition. The football skills competition is scheduled for Saturday, August 9, 2008 at the Dallas Cowboys Training Camp Complex @ River Ridge Field, Ventura Road & Vineyard Boulevard. The competition will begin at 9:00am.

The Recreation Division offers this program for Physically Challenged and Special Needs Population at Oxnard Beach Park every third Saturday from March through October from 11am to 2pm featuring board games, arts and crafts, group and individual activities and much more. For more information contact Greg Barnes at 385-7990.


 RSVP Bone Builders

Fight Osteoporosis with RSVP Bone Builders
Building Bones for Life!

During one-hour classes that meet twice weekly, participants lift light weights to increase bone density and improve muscle strength while also working to better their balance. Weights are provided in class. Participants move at their own speed, deciding how much weight they can lift and when to increase it. Weekly educational discussions cover topics related to osteoporosis prevention and health. Must be 60 years and above to participate. Registration required. Call 385-8019 to learn more.
